THE LORD OF THE RINGS Plot Summary

The future of civilization lies at the end of the One Ring that belongs to the Dark Lord Sauron, which for centuries has been lost. The powerful forces do not stop at their quest. But fate puts it in the hands of a young Hobbit named Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood), who won the Ring and went into myth. Hard work awaits Frodo when he becomes the Ring-bearer, to destroy the One Ring in the Mount Doom fire where it was built and the only place where it can be destroyed.

A long time ago, twenty rings existed, three for elves, seven for dwarves, nine for men, and one made by the Dark Lord Sauron, To destroy this Ring fellowship of men, hobbits, dwarfs, and Elves is formed. In actuality, the Dark Lord Sauron created this Ring to rule over the other rings’ powers given to men, dwarfs,  and Elves in his offense to dominate all over Middle-Earth.

There are three parts to “The Lord Of The Rings ” BY J. J .R. Tolkien’s trilogy.

  1. The Fellowship of the Ring (29 July 1954)
  2. The Two Towers (11 November 1954)
  3. The Return Of The King (20 October 1955)

1: The Fellowship of the Ring (29 July 1954)

The story takes place in Middle-earth, during the Third Age-a mythical past in which Elves, humans, Dwarves, and other creatures exist side by side. The Fellowship of the Ring was set in motion in the Shire as Bilbo Baggins makes ready to celebrate his 111th birthday with an embellished celebration.

Gandalf, a wizard comes up with lit fireworks. After the party, Bilbo leaves to do more adventures, gifting his magic ring to his nephew Frodo, who is also celebrating a birthday because he is turning 33.
Roundabout on the 50th birthday of Frodo, Gandalf out of the blue comes back and reveals the grim & dark history of the ring-which considered the One Ring the evil Sauron hammered out to conquer all of Middle-earth.
Frodo sets off to take the Ring to Rivendell, where he can discuss with  Elrond what should be done next. He goes along with his  faithful  friend Sam, as well as two other young hobbits, Merry
and Pippin.

Way to Rivendell

On the way to Rivendell, the small accompany of hobbits is convinced by the Black Riders, strange, mysterious black-cloaked figures. In the town of Bree, the hobbits encounter   Aragorn who is a guide known as the Ranger strider. Aragorn leads the way to Weathertop, where the Black Riders catch up and attack them. The group continues their journey to Rivendell with Frodo, who was badly injured by a knife.

Aragorn and the hobbits arrive at Rivendell out of harm’s way. When Frodo regains his health then  Elrond held a council to decide what to do with the One Ring, which grants great powers to, those who wear the ring but also corrupts that person with its evil, devilish and dominative influence. Mandem, Elves, Hobbits, and Dwarves take part in the council, along with the wizard Gandalf. After a long discussion, arguments, and debating, Frodo put forward to take the One Ring to Mount Doom in Mordor, where the ring can be destroyed.

Handpick the Ring bearer

So it is decided to give the charge of the Ring to Frodo, who is ardent to destroy the Ring. Elrond appoints eight others to go along. Gandalf, Gimli the Dwarf, Boromir of Gondor, Aragon, Legolas the Elf, Sam, Merry, and Pippin. They form the Fellowship. Their crew sets off and soon faces difficulty by crossing the  Caradhras mountain. They settle out to travel underground through the Dwarf city of Moria.

The crew continues their journey through Moria by Orcs, and Gandalf is lost down in a great chasm during a fight with a giant monster Balrog. With a heavy heart, the group departs from Moria and begins their journey to  Lothlórien, (considered the land of peace) inhabited by Elves and ruled by Lady Galadriel and her husband Celeborn. There, the Crew heals from their heartache and grief, but they must have to move again on their adventure.

Frodo takes to one’s heels

Commanded now by Aragorn, the Crew travels down the Anduin River in boats. They put a stop  at
a point where they have to decide which way they chose to further proceed with their journey. Members of the Company are not in agreement, and they take time to ruminate and think over the situation. Boromir catches up with Frodo and attempted to force him that gave the One Ring to him, at first he tried to convince him, but then through force. Frodo flees from there and decides to go solely to Mount Doom. But the agile and loyal Sam catches up with him right before his leaving, and the two start their journey together toward Mordor.

2: The Two Towers (11 November 1954)

The story “The Two Towers ” starts from where “The Fellowship of the Ring” hangs on. As Aragorn track down  Frodo, Orcs from Isengard-Empire of the now-corrupted wizard Saruman, attacks   Boromir, Merry, and Pippin. Boromir killed in the encounter. On the other hand, Pippin and Merry captured and put behind the bars.

Chasing Orcs

Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli decide to chase the Orcs in hopes of recapturing the younger hobbits. They pay their respects to the disgraced  Boromir and set off at a run. Along the way, they meet up with a band of armed horsemen belonging to Rohan, a land that is ruled by King  Théoden. Eomer, who is the commander of these riders, asked them who they are? so Aragorn reveals and introduces himself as Isildur’s heir.  so Eomer bestows their horses. Aragorn, Gimli, and Lego have continued their mission. Meantime, Merry and Pippin have met up with  Treebeard, an Ent, who is concerned over their reports of Saruman’s activity.

Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas go into the forest, where they find Gandalf who miraculously turned back from the chasm, dressed in white robes. So after then, the four go to see Théoden’s adviser, Gríma Wormtongue who, if truth be told is the real  Saruman’s secret agent and has been blemishing & spoiling Théoden’s mind against Gandalf and  Gondor. Gandalf set free Théoden from the grip of Saruman’s counsel, and the king gets ready to fight with the forces who are attacking Rohan.

Helm’s Deep

Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas gathered the soldiers of Rohan to Helm’s Deep, where they fight with  Saruman’s Orcs, while Gandalf goes to get more help. Just when they are on the verge to lose the battle, Gandalf arrives on time as he promised to get help for them and they all fought with the Orcs and throw them away in a mysterious forest that disappears forever.

Arriving at Isengard, they detect an army of Ents that have retorted to Treebeard’s call for action against Saruman and has pulled apart the whole place into pieces, imprisoning Saruman in his tower, Orthanc. Aragorn, Gandalf, Gimli, and Legolas reunify with Merry and Pippin, who jaunt with Treebeards. Gandalf talks to Saruman and carries away all the powers.

Wormtongue, who is with Saruman in the tower, lifts a large sphere out of the window, which Pippin takes up. Afterward, Pippin looks into it, with a catastrophic outcome. Pippin feels upset, so Gandalf took up the decision that Pippin will accompany him toward the chief city of Gondor named  Minas Tirith. They move toward the city on Shadowfax, which is Gandalf’s horse.

Way To Mount Doom

On the other side meanwhile, these things happen with everyone, Frodo and Sam have continued their way toward mount doom. On their way to mount doom, they have been tracked down and attacked by Sméagol (Gollum), a little, slimy greasy creature whose mind and body have been tangled, corrupted, and contaminated by the Ring, which he found and withheld onto the ring for centuries before Bilbo Baggins took it from him (in The Hobbit). But now, Frodo and Sam have defeated Gollum and made him their guide.

Black Gate of Mordor

After a gloomy and wretched trip through the Dead Marshes and after seeing a distressing look at the Black Gate of Mordor, Frodo agrees to follow   Gollum and for now, they continue their journey to Mount Doom through a  secret way. On the way,  they are entrapped by a group of soldiers from Gondor, led by Faramir who claimed to be the younger brother of Boromir. Faramir take heed to the stóry of their adventure with keen interest and permitted them to go on their way with his blessings.

Commanded by Gollum, Frodo and Sam climb many stairways to the secret path called Cairn Ungol, where they encountered Shelob, a giant poisonous spider. Gollum left the two hobbits, and then Shelob snatched Frodo. Sam, believes that  Frodo is dead and decided to take  Ring to Mount Doom to fulfill their quest alone.

3: The Return of the King (20 October 1955)

The story  “The Return of the King starts with Gandalf and Pippin moving toward Minas Tirith. Once there, they quickly go to see Denethor, the Steward of the Gondor city. Pippin enters Denethor’s service but on the other side, Gandalf alerts the steward about the upcoming war with Mordor and tries to advise him on how to deal with Mordor. In meantime,  Théoden’s military reassembled and get ready ride to with the assistance of Gondor. Merry and ‚Eowyn(Théoden’s niece), entered the ranks of the soldiers. Eowyn hides her identity by wearing a men’s costume.

The Paths of dead

Aragorn decides to take the short path which is called the Paths of the Dead in hopes to reach Minas Tirith in a short time. While that is going on, Minas Tirith has been blocked by the forces of Sauron. A thriving blackness has seeped out of Mordor and covers the whole area in the dusk. Denethor sinks into the self-destructive urge and dreadful despair. As the army of Minas Tirith battle with  Sauron’s forces and are near to conquering, the Riders of Rohan arrive, as does Aragorn, leading an army of the dead. Sauron’s forces drawback and dispersed.

Further along, Aragorn heals the injured, including Merry, Faramir, and  Éowyn, The best plan Aragorn & Gandalf made is to play a trick with Sauron by marching toward Mordor and pretending by the calm that they have Rung and then challenging Sauron only to divert his attention as long as they can. Frodo is nearly slipping into Mordor while fighting and throws the Ring into the freaks of Doom but his friend Sam rescued them and gave Ring back to him.

They continue their journey, and finally, they arrive at Mount Doom and started to climb it. Sam has to carry Frodo part of the way. During the interval,  Sauron also realizes that Frodo has the Ring, and he orders the Ringwraiths  (The Nazgul) to fly to Mount Doom and close it, but it’ll be too late.

At the last moment, Frodo is overwhelmed by the Ring because of its growing power and, instead of throwing it into the fire, claims his possession of the Ring. Suddenly, Gollum comes out and attacks him by biting off Frodo’s finger in anguish to gain the Ring but he didn’t maintain his balance and drops down into the valley of fire by holding the Ring, thereby killing himself and destroying the ring.

Erosion at Mount Doom

Frodo and Sam tremble outside the Doom and are saved by the Eagles as Mordor begins to erode. The Ringwraiths are also pulled down in a volcanic explosion at Mount Doom, with the explosion of the ring Sauron also finished off. The Company is reunified, and Aragorn take oath as the crowned King of Gondor and marries Arwen, ultimately the hobbits feel they should move back to the Shire. When they go to the shire they face many problems there. Corruption destroys their harmonious homeland with whom they must fight and deal to pull out.

After this difficult “scrub,” Pippin, Merry, and Sam settled into normalcy. Frodo discovers that he has been severely damaged by his experience to live a normal life, so he travels to the Grey Havens with Bilbo by boarding an Elven ship going away from Middle-Earth permanently.
